This is the beginning of a new collection that started as a garden yard sign. I designed it to encourage people to not rake and bag the leaves in their yard but rake them INTO their flower beds and leave them alone. As the sign says, “leaving the leaves” in your garden for fall and winter provides shelter for pollinators and other insects. They support a biodiverse mini-ecosystem in your yard and when the leaves break down, help to produce rich and loamy soil.
I have very hard clay soil in my yard and realized doing this would help create much richer and healthier soil. I also use leaf mulch in my bed during the growing season instead of bark mulch. 🐝🦋🍂🍁
Now that I have this created I’d like to work on some repeat patterns to go along with the sign.
