Still going through the Immersion 2022 training. Still trying to learn Adobe Illustrator. This time I wanted to figure out how to create a glow around the moon. I’m actually quite proud of these images. I like the colors of the harvest moon better, but I like the stars of the blue moon better. Luckily they are all vectors so recolors the stars and moving them to the harvest moon image won’t be a problem.
The trickiest part of doing something like this with vectors is that you have to limit the number of colors you use, particularly if you want to put the motif in a pattern design. A gradient or raster image could have 1000s of colors in order for it to gradually fade from one color to the next. But if I want to use the motif in a pattern design, some printing processes require you to limit your color palette to maybe 10 or less for the entire collection. I think I did a pretty good job figuring this out but my Illustrator skills are woefully inept right now. This took me hours and hours to complete.
