Photo Reference Usage Rights

The photographs in my Photo Reference Packs are intended to help artists, designers, and other creatives explore ideas and create their own artwork.

Whether you’re an illustrator, painter, surface pattern designer, or collage artist, you’re welcome to use these photographs as references for personal or commercial projects.

The guidelines below explain what you can and can’t do with the photographs.

What You CAN Do

  • Use the photographs as references for your own creative work.
  • Create illustrations, paintings, collages, surface patterns, and other original artwork based on the photographs.
  • Incorporate photographs into original compositions, such as mixed-media artwork or collages.
  • Sell your finished artwork and products featuring your creations, including prints, fabric, stationery, home decor, and other merchandise.
  • Use your finished artwork for personal or commercial purposes.

What You CAN'T Do

  • Sell, share, give away, or redistribute the original photographs, individually or as a collection.
  • Include the photographs in your own photo reference packs, stock image collections, digital downloads, or similar resources.
  • Reproduce the photographs directly on products for sale, such as T-shirts, mugs, posters, or other merchandise.
  • Make minor changes to the photographs, such as cropping, recoloring, applying filters, or adding text, and sell them as your own artwork.
  • Claim the original photographs as your own.

The Simple Version

Use these photographs to create something of your own. Draw from them, paint from them, incorporate them into a collage, or transform them into something new.

Just don’t resell, share, or reproduce the photographs themselves as standalone images or products.

When you download or purchase a Photo Reference Pack, you’re granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the photographs under the terms outlined above. This permission does not transfer copyright or ownership of the original photographs.
